Leslie started working on Rent a husband back in 1999. She started connecting with organizations that wanted to help promote the liberated womans' lifestyle. Although Rent a Husband is not a sexually oriented company, she felt that women would think otherwise and needed to change their ideas of who and what she offered. ​In 2004 she teamed up with the International Womens League to help women rethink who they were and started to get women out of the social box that they were trapped in
